A WEEK IN GRAN CANARIAS

A few months ago I had a fuck it moment and decided to over come my fear of flying alone and book some flights to visit my sister, niece and Dad in Gran Canarias. I hadn't been out there to visit them before, so this meant I hadn't seen my sister for nearly two years and seen as I'm trying to overcome fears, this seemed like a perfect opportunity.

Having traveled to Spain the month before with my mum, I felt a bit more confident going through the airport as I was familiar with it. I actually enjoyed it, I felt relaxed on my way back too. Which is great because I want to go more places and flying alone was one of the things holding me back.

This post is going to be more of a picture post, I think the photos speak for themselves. It is a lovely island and I'm already planning on going back because there are so many more things that we wanted to do but didn't get round to doing. Like seeing the dolphins.

My sister works at a stables near Playa Del Ingles (El Salobre Horse Riding). The stables take tourists out on hacks around the country side, amongst other things. I had been looking forward to going out on a hack since I'd booked the flights. Though I do enjoy riding, I am no good at it. So my sister put me on very calm and good horses, both times we went out. The views were amazing, although they aren't right on the beach front you can see the sea and all that surrounds it once you get up the mountain a bit. I'd definitely recommend you pay them a visit if you're ever in the area but make sure to put sun cream on cause guess who managed to get a sun burn... me.

We went out a few nights too, even on a Monday night the bars were buzzing. We visited a couple of karaoke and sang away to the songs (from the corner of the room, no one wants to hear us sing). Although going out meant we ended up hung over and tired the next day so we didn't really get to make the most of it, but it was worth it.

We visited a few beaches but my favorite one was Mogan. It felt very safe and not as scary as a usual beach, sounds stupid but I am terrified of the sea (incase I get eaten by some sea creature), but saying that the water was freezing so I stuck my feet in it to get a blog worthy photo then jumped out.

I'm looking forward to visiting again, there is so much more to do that we didn't manage to get round to this time but will definitely be doing next time. If you've ever been, let me know what you recommend we do.
