My Most Used Highlighters

*Post contains affiliate links

Highlighters are something that I've only started really using the past few months. In the past, I never really knew what to do with them or how to use them without it ending up looking like I just had really oily skin. However, after my friend Rosie obsessed over them, I decided to give them another go. I have a few, but I thought I would share the ones I find myself reaching for more often.

After watching far too many YouTube videos and actually learning the right way to use them, I now wonder how I went so long without including highlighters in my makeup routine. Did I not want to glow? Did I not want to look fabulous, clearly not. As always, I have put the products in order starting with the cheapest one.

Tanya Burr "Peachy Glow" palette

Annoyingly, this one is no longer in stock anywhere. However, I thought I would still include it, mainly because I'd already taken the photos... But also because I'd love to know if you have any recommendations for similar highlighters. Cause I'm going to need to replace it someday and apparently I can't buy the same one anymore.

The thing I love about the highlighter from this palette is how subtle it is. As much as I love the look of highlighter on my cheekbone, I'm not brave enough to wear a blinding one every day. So this subtle "Champagne Shimmer" highlighter is perfect for me, as it adds a bit of a glow to my makeup. I find myself reaching for this highlighter when I wear powder or CC cream to work (Which is rare these days, I'll be honest), I do find that it is SO subtle that I have to use a fair amount of it though.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer Highlighter Pen

This one is a concealer too, perfect for dark circles. However, I have personally never used it as a concealer. It feels just a bit too thin and bright for me to be whacking it on the rest of my face, y'know? You could probably get away with using it under your eyes, to brighten them up but that's as far as I'd go with it.

The L'Oreal Lumi Magique is a lot like the Tanya Burr highlighter but liquid. It's very subtle, making it perfect for everyday use - For me anyway. I tend to use this one when I'm wearing foundation to work, as I find it sits better and longer than the powder.

Benefit High Beam Highlighter

The Benefit High Beam highlighter* is the one I reach for when I want to G L O W. This one is by far my favourite when it comes to wanting my highlight to pop, which is usually if I'm off out or fancy putting a bit more effort into my makeup. You only need a tiny amount of this one, a little goes a long way. I learnt that the hard way when I was a bit too generous and ended up with far too much product and not sure what to do with it.

I don't have many highlighters in my makeup collection as it's only something that I've recently started incorporating it into my makeup. So if you have any highlighters you'd recommend, please let me know in the comments as I'm always looking for a reason to buy new makeup... As if I need it.
